Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The trailer hitch receiver was a perfect fit. The installation video was spot on so there were no mysteries. If I ever buy another vehicle that needs one I'll be back!

by:

Great, sturdy hitch. Installation was straight forward with good instructions. Fast delivery!

I would have given 5 stars except the hitch arrived all beat up. That may not be etrailer's fault but maybe better packaging would help. Several spots on the hitch had paint scratched / chipped off. Thankfully, no parts were missing.

by:

Was very happy again with the third hitch kit I have purchased. You may wish to check the directions regarding tools required. Instructions say a 15mm socket or wrench and it is actuality an 11/16" for the bolts supplied with the kit.No other things to report. I did this myself with an aid of a floor jack to hold the hitch up while installing the washers and nuts. Tomorrow I will tackle the wiring harness and I am sure will go easily as the others

by:

Was hesitant to go from a full-size truck to a small suv, but pulling my boat hasn’t been an issue and this hitch has been wonderful.

by:

Hitch was fantastic. Electrical connections instructions were vague and uneasy to follow and required me to have professionally installed

by:

This piece fit my need perfectly, I use it on our motor home, drop down to tow our Equinox and the raised up for our bike carrier. Everything is secure and the finish is still looking good and rust free.

One year in and 25,000 miles of towing, still looks like new and working fine.

What can I say but this was the easiest trailer hitch install I've ever done. OK, this was the third one (85 S-10 blazer, 96 Astro van, and this is the third). Our 03 Envoy (traded it in for the Equinox) and 02 2500HD (still have) both have factory hitches. It was delivered by UPS ground late afternoon and by 6:30 I had it installed. Jacked up the rear of the Equinox, placed two jack stands and followed the instructions. I will say Watch The Video for the install and it is that easy. I chose this hitch as it required no grinding or enlarging of the holes as the other hitch (Curt model). The video was spot on. I did apply some antisieze on the bolts as I always assume I will need to remove it at some future time. There was written instructions that I did look through but they matched the video. I did not use a strap to hold the exhaust as the video and the instructions showed. I used a bungy cord and adjusted it for a similar drop as a strap. I wanted to do this as I felt I may need to drop exhaust even more than the instructions as I installed this by myself. If you have an available friend it will make it easier to hold the hitch in place and start a nut on each side rather than using both hands and one leg. Working with etrailer was easy. This order was delayed by another item I had bundled together with it. The email communication from etrailer was appropriate and let me know what was going on. The delay was not a real issue as we special ordered this car and it took about 6 weeks to arrive. We keep our vehicles forever (still have the S-10 and the Astro) and I look forward to this hitch providing us years of trouble free service. I was quite impressed with the craftsmanship on this hitch, the welds were perfect. The entire hitch except where the receiver goes in is hidden behind the rear valence. Thank you etrailer!

Follow up one yesterday later, nothing to add to above review except occasionally when I am fully loaded the bottom of the receiver will drag as I go in and out of my driveway. This is because of the way the city has the curb cutfor driveways and it is abrupt. If I go out slow it doesnt it but ocasionly I will forget. When empty it doesnt do it. The hitch is sturdy enough all that has happened is paint scraped off the bottom of the receiver.

by:

Online ordering was easy and fast delivery was great receive my hitch in three days. Also installation was easy just like in the video. Hitch fit perfect on my 2022 GMC terrain.

by:

Perfect fit on our Equinox and the price was fair. Shipped quickly and on time.

The hitch works well with our Thule bike rack. My only complaint is how low the hitch is to the ground. I have to be careful so I dont drag on the ground entering or leaving parking lots. I cant go down our driveway with the bike rack on because I would hit the ground. Otherwise, no complaints

by:

I purchased this as part of a package which included; Hitch and wiring for my 2022 Equinox, Base plate, Tow Bar, brake System and connecting air hose, break away cables, LED tow lights with wiring harness, and a trickle charger to keep the Equinox battery from going dead while I was towing it behind my class A RV.
I had etrailer do the install of all the components on my car and RV. All the workmanship was excellent and done in the amount of time they said it would take. Also because they did not have a video of this equipment being put on this year and model vehicle, I gave them permission to make a video(which added a extra day and a half to the install)and the installation was free. Everything has worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Etrailer is my go to for anything towing and also RV parts.

I ordered a Draw-Tite hitch part number 76419 for my 2024 GMC Terrain tried to install it and the drivers side bolt hole would not line up. I have 2 knee replacements and a torn rotator cuff, so to get under the car and install the hitch is no easy task. With that being said I was very upset when I couldn’t install it and had to put everything back in place.I will be sending this piece of junk back and NO longer ever doing business with etrailer. I rate this a -5star.

by:

Installation went as shown in the video. Unfortunately parts of the hitch broke through the packaging and took the paint off a few spots on the hitch. I bought some black paint and covered these areas before installation, but this protection will not be as good as production.

by:

This hitch fit like a glove and was relatively easy to install(about 2 hours).

by:

My husband was able to put on the hitch with no problem!! Excellent shipping and service!

Second time I have ordered a hitch receiver from this site and as usual they deliver quality products on time! Installation videos make the process easy. Great company!

by:

Instructions are not very clear. 15mm wasn't correct size of nuts on hangar brackets (16mm) and boy are they on tight. Still trying to get off so a ease of 4 is turning out to be more like an 8 and a lot more time.

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame hitch fit as it should.Very happy with the product, had it installed in about an hour on my 2024 GMC Terrain. Also the hands free lift gate works as it should after the install.

It's nice that the hands free feature is still functional even with the hitch installed :) What will you be using the hitch for? New bike rack per chance?

by:

Trailer hitch was a perfect fit; however we have a problem the vehicle in the rear the hitch so low it scapes on speed bumps or with tow basket. We traveled to South Padre, Tx week later, everywhere we went we dragged the basket. Not recommend hit on this year of vehicle. We have recently removed the hitch, to put roof rack on top with a tray for future Tavel. The 2019 Chevy Equinox LT has very real low suspension vs the last few years prior vehicles sat hire.

Great design and easy install on my 2023 Equnox RS. The installation written material was great BUT the installation video was better!!! Totally made it less stressful to be sure. My only complaint & suggestion for improvement is additional material or care should be put into packaging. The box arrived damaged and with the end pieces sticking out and the paint all chipped off. Maybe foam packing can help prevent this? I’ll have to figure out how to seal those surfaces now. Still. HIGHLY recommend and satisfied customer!

by:

I install the trailer hitch on the back of my equinox which is a 2018 with no problem. Looks good thank you very much

by:

Fast, on time shipping. Easy installation with great how to videos. Perfect fit.

by:

TLDR - 5 stars on customer service and response. 1 star on shipping packaging and initial product. If I could give 4.5 stars overall I would.

I have a 2019 Chevy Equinox LT that I bought about two months ago. I wanted a tow hitch installed from the dealer, but I am glad I didn't buy it from them. The dealer wanted over $500 for the hitch and install.

I did a ton of research, and it all kept leading back to etrailer.com. The website didn't show any hitches available for my year, but I did find a customer service thread talking about my SUV showing everything I needed along with part numbers.

I ordered the hitch and wiring harness, and I received a shipping email the same day. Tracking said it would take five days, but I received it in three via UPS. The package was damaged with a large hole in the middle of the box. I took pictures of the whole box before I opened it and immediately emailed customer support of etrailer. Mind you, this was on a Saturday, and I wasn't expecting a response until Monday morning.

To my surprise I received a response within 15 minutes, and also provided a direct email and phone number for use. Customer service asked for me to open the package and inspect the hitch. Unfortunately, the hitch was damaged quite a bit. I am not quite sure how this particular item could have passed any type of quality control. There were large scratches that looked like impact areas that went down to bare metal in several areas on the item. These impacts did not match the damage on the shipping box, so it was quite clear that they were from before the unit was shipped. There were also impact and drag marks that looked to have been caused during shipping that coincided with the box damage. Also, one of the holes that were to be used to mount the hitch to the SUV was not fully cut out and would have been very difficult to complete without heavy duty tools.

I took more pictures and responded to the email that I had been provided with. Within 15 minutes customer service responded that they apologized for the damaged hitch and would be providing a return shipping label and immediately shipping a new hitch. I received the shipping label almost immediately, and the shipping notification first thing on Monday morning. I received the new hitch on Thursday morning.

There was slight damage to the shipping box and to the paint on the edges of the crossbar where it looked like it may have been dropped or dragged during shipping.

Installation was extremely easy. I am lucky and have a friend that has a car lift that I can use. I followed the install video that is on the hitch webpage of etrailer. I added some anti-seize compound to the bolts just in case, and I highly recommend doing so for everyone. I also added some primer and paint onto areas that were damaged during shipping to reduce the chance of rust in the future. The hitch fit perfectly and looks great on my SUV.

Picture attached for reference.

by:

The receiver fit perfectly. My only regret is I would have liked the receiver's 2 inch tube higher up to come thru the bumper cover. I had one screwup on my part during installation as I threaded one mounting bolt/spacer in the wrong hole. I was able to only retrieve the bolt and had to fabricate a new backup plate. (I also really appreciate the installation videos for the receiver and wiring kit.) Thanks Guy

by:

As always Etrailer is excellent. I was trying to get my car dealer to install a factory hitch for a bike rack. They couldn't get it in time, so I ordered the Draw-Tite Max-Frame for my 2019 Terrain Denali. I added on for faster shipping, was expected on a Friday, it arrived Thursday! Etrailer's installation videos are awesome, very thorough and detailed. Installation was easy, and now we can carry our bikes. The hitch does hang lower than the factory hitch but this is due to the factory one mounting differently, and needing to have the entire rear facia removed for installation. So far the low height is not an issue, and the new rack we bought hold the bikes more than high enough for clearance.

great product, shipped fast and arrived in no time. Couldn't have been easier to find the correct hitch and order
